Okay, you’ve decided to write a book. You’re really into it but this thought gets stuck in your head like grizzle between your molars.

It’s too long. There’s no way I could write 50,000 let alone 80,000 words.

How do you eat an elephant? Well, I’m an animal-loving vegetarian so I’d rather you didn’t. How would you eat a 4 ton piece of broccoli?

One bite at a time.

Have you had someone from the Leukemia Society hit you up for a donation for their marathon? Have you noticed that not everyone who runs a marathon is a world-class athlete?

How do they do it?

Little by little they put in the miles.

Finishing a book means putting a bunch of writing sessions. You have to have a direction for your story and a plan for it but adding up the word count is merely staying at daily or almost daily.

The irrational belief keeping you from it is:

Writing every day might be uncomfortable or boring–and I must always be comfortable and amused.

You can deal with discomfort. You can deal with drudgery. You aren’t a child and you don’t need constant amusement.

Okay? Ass on chair, fingers on keyboard. Type.
